T. Alexander Pond

Alec came as chair of the Physics Department in 1962.  He quided the department during the critical years of the mid sixties when growth was very rapid.  Under his leadership, C. N. Yang was recruited as Einstein Professor, and John Toll was recruited as President.  Later Alex served for many years as provost, before leaving to become Chancellor at Rutgers.  He is now professor emeritus at Rutgers.
