Yi-Han Kao

Yi-Han Kao joined the Stony Brook faculty in 1963.  He was the first Solid State experimentalist at Stony Brook.  After many years of teaching and research, and after training many PhD students, he left Stony Brook to become Professor at SUNY Buffalo.  The photo was taken by Philip Allen in Kyoto at the 1970 low temperature conference.  It is believed that the bowl in Yi-Han's hands contains liquid nitrogen.
