Note: problem 3b from Fall 2004 is slightly off from my point of view. The force which a car has to overcome in normal driving is wind and engine resistance, not kinetic friction between the tires and the road. The friction between tires and road is more like static friction, or to be more technical, rolling friction as discussed on p. 178 of Young and Freedman (I skipped this topic and will not put rolling friction on an exam.)
The style of exams for Spring 2006 will be slightly different. I will not likely use a problem like #2 from fall 2005 which is primarily symbol manipulation, elementary calculus, etc. And I would certainly like to test two things that Prof. Deshpande wasn't testing: getting information from graphs, and using knowledge from the labs.
